Step into Marquette’s star-studded past while indulging in some of the city’s best bites and sips. If your idea of outdoor adventure is walking from one cozy destination to the next for delicious food and fun entertainment, this Marquette adventure is for you. When we did this adventure in early February, snow fell gently as if on cue, and we felt like we were in the midst of well-directed magical winter moments. We hope the same happens for you when you go on this adventure.
Landmark Inn
Start your adventure by checking into the historic Landmark Inn, where Hollywood legends like James Stewart, Lee Remick, and George C. Scott stayed while filming Anatomy of a Murder. If you’re lucky, you'll be able to book Room 502—the same room Amelia Earhart once stayed in—and soak in the luxurious atmosphere with Lake Superior views.
Pro Tip:
Grab an Old Fashioned with an apple twist at Northland Pub, where the cast once gathered for post-filming cocktails.
Ore Dock Brewing Co.
Get your evening out started with a craft beer, cider, or seltzer at the beloved Ore Dock brewery. Whether you sip on a crisp Nottingham Cider (like me) or a Loose Juicy Hazy IPA (like Chris), the upstairs provides a relaxed setting -- at least it does at 5 o'clock; no promises on how quiet it'll be later in the evening. Live music downstairs added to the welcoming, fun vibe when we entered.
Pro Tip:
There's an Instagram-worthy photo op for your beer in front of the MQT sign reminiscent of the old MTV logo. IYKYK.
Delft Bistro
Dine at Delft Bistro, a historic theater-turned-restaurant where movies still play nightly. We even spotted a screening schedule posted near the door. Catch a film while enjoying elevated comfort food like the Japanese Curry Rice Bowl with Mushroom Steak, or order one of their "Between the Reels" selections like the Steak Sandwich. We were surprised by how many vegan (vegan possible) and gluten-free (or gluten-free possible) options are on their menu. On the night we went, a jazz band was playing -- adding to the swanky coolness of the place.
Pro Tip:
Don’t miss the creatively crafted cocktails—try the Cranberry Sage Smash or the Old & Salty Yooper.
